We have heard many stories about the origins of this large antique bronze disc.
But a friend of ours in Boston, Bobbi Hamill with the Hamill Gallery of Tribal Art,
told us it was most likely worn as adornment in the early 1900s by the Oromo
tribe in Ethiopia, and bears a similarity in form to Ethiopian leather shields which
often had a metal disc in the center. Tibetan silver repousee beads, silver daisy
spacers, a gold-filled extender, and a bronze hook and eye clasp.
