A big, bold Tibetan pendant depicting Kuan Yin, who for centuries epitomized
the great ideal of Mahayana Buddhism in her role as "bodhisattva," a being of
enlightenment." She was destined to become a Buddha, but has foregone the
bliss of nirvana with a vow to save all children of God. She rests beneath large
silver-over-wax bicone beads from India, which have a lovely patina but can be
polished to a bright silver. Some rare, amber-colored vaseline beads from early
1800s Bohemia are interspersed throughout. Sterling silver hook and eye clasp.
